Frequently Asked Questions

I am allergic to shellfish, since glucosamine is made from the shells of crustaceans, can I take Nutriex Health?

Most people who are allergic to shellfish are allergic to the proteins in the shellfish. Because the glucosamine in Nutriex Health comes from the chitin found in the shells (which does not contain protein), you are unlikely to have an allergic reaction. If you decide to try Nutriex Health, you may want to take only one capsule at first, and then increase the number of capsules each day until you are taking the recommended amount.

The label on Nutriex Heath recommends taking it twice a day. Why not take it all at once?

Absorbtion is more effective when split into bi-daily or even tri-daily portions. Having key nutrients in your system at night is especially beneficial. Taking Nutriex Health capsules before meals may be helpful in a weight management program.

Helpful tip: Keep your Nutriex Health at your bathroom sink so that you take it when you brush your teeth.

I'm allergic to sulfa drugs. Can I take Nutriex Health even though it contains chondroitin sulfate?

The composition of chondroitin sulfate is very different from the compounds that make up sulfa drugs, so you should not experience an allergic reaction by taking Nutriex Health. Sulfur is also present in foods such as broccoli, eggs, and onions, foods that people commonly eat without adverse reactions. If you have other questions about how chondroitin sulfate will affect you, please consult your physician.

I am pregnant. Can I take Nutriex Health?

Nutriex Health is considered safe and possibly advantageous during pregnancy. As you know, your nutritional needs increase when you are pregnant, so be sure to eat a well-balanced diet that includes lots of fruit and vegetables. The vitamins and minerals in Nutriex Health parallel those contained in many prenatal vitamins. Nutriex Health also contains other antioxidants, plant sources and cartilage nutrients. However, Nutriex Health has never been specifically studied as a prenatal supplement. If you have any questions about whether you should take Nutriex Health, please contact your physician.

I've read that it's hard to get vitamin E from your diet. Where does vitamin E come from?

Vitamin E is found naturally in vegetable oils, nuts, green leafy vegetables, and whole grains; however, the quantity of vitamin E found in these items is very low. For example, you would have to consume 2 pounds of hazelnuts or 7 ounces of canola oil in order to get the 200 IU contained in Nutriex Health. Nutriex Health uses only the natural form (d-alpha tocopheryl) combined with mixed tocopherols which many leading nutritionists recommend.

What is CoQ-10?

Coenzyme Q10 was first discovered in 1957 by Dr. Frederick Crane. Also called ubiquinone, coenzyme Q10 is a substance found naturally in our bodies. It helps to produce energy in our cells and is also an excellent antioxidant. With aging, CoQ-10 levels diminish. A number of scientific studies suggest that coenzyme Q10 may help prevent cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, gum disease, chronic infections, and fatigue. Although CoQ-10 is found primarily in organ meats, blood levels of CoQ-10 are interestingly higher in vegetarians. This suggests that a high intake of plant foods may preserve CoQ-10 levels.
